Back pain can be resolved without surgery in most cases
The conservative treatments for back pain involve the use of pain medications and other methods to reduce inflammation and restore normal function. Usually, some self-care methods and medications can help to overcome back pain, but if pain and inflammation persist over 72 hours, it is necessary to consult your physician. Your care at home can involve rest, ice or hot compress, special exercises, or medications. Certain non-invasive treatments such as spinal manipulation, acupuncture, biofeedback, traction, TENS etc may also help relieve pain.
Minimally invasive spine surgery (MISS) is the latest technology available to perform spinal surgeries through small, less than one-inch-long incisions. It involves the use of special surgical instruments, devices and advanced imaging techniques to visualize and perform the surgery through such small incisions. MISS is aimed at minimizing damage to the muscles and surrounding structures. It possesses numerous benefits over the traditional spine surgery such as small surgery scars, reduced risk of infections, less blood loss during the surgery, less postoperative pain, shorter hospital stay, and quicker return to work and normal activities.
